Lucéram (Italian: Lucerame) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Lucéram is in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Its inhabitants are called the Lucéramois.

Luceram village is home of Peïra-Cava, the first station of winter sports department created in 1909. The village has many ecclesiastical and medieval monuments and altarpieces of Ludovico Brea.

The Battle of Authion was a military engagement that took place towards the end of World War II with the imminent defeat of Nazi Germany in April 1945. Allied forces were sent to the French Alps – British and French Army were ready to face the determined but weakened Germans and Italians. A critical choke point was the 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) high massive Authion where the Axis were locked up in. Hoping to conquer Authion and so create a clear path to Italy, Harold Alexander authorized an assault on Authion on 10 April 1945.

Photograph description:

Saorge (Italian: Saorgio, Occitan: Saorj, Ligurian: Savurgiu) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Highway E74 which runs north from Menton, passes through Saorge on its way to the Col de Tende (Italian: Colle di Tenda) where it crosses into Italy.

The region belonged to the old County of Nice. Beginning in 1388 Saorge was part of Sardinia-Piedmont. In June 1793, Sardinia defeated the armies of the First French Republic in the First Battle of Saorgio. In the Second Battle of Saorgio in April 1794 the French wrested the town from the Piedmontese. The town was returned to Sardinia-Piedmont after the overthrow of Napoleon Bonaparte and finally ceded to France in 1860.
